March on City Hall for Education Justice to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of March on Washington

Chicago, Aug. 28, 2013 – A coalition of groups fighting for education justice met in front of the Board of Education in the Chicago Loop and marched on City Hall. The demonstration, attended by some 300 marchers, was part of a day-long boycott of Chicago Public Schools demanding a moratorium on school closures and drastic school budget cuts. Demonstrators called to replace Mayor Rahm Emanuel next election and to institute an elected, representative school board as well.
